Cable Regulation

Oh great. Bush is talking about decency standards again. Don't conservatives have anything better to do than regulate what I choose to watch on cable? (I mean, really, I pick what channels I want when I write that check for 60 bucks every month). When did government regulation become a Republican value? I thought the Republicans were all about a hands-off-non-meddling-kinda-government.

Obsessed with Fruit

Ok. I know what you are thinking. But, that's not the kinda fruit I'm talking about. My new warm-weather lust is for the fruity taste of the smoothies at the Amazonia Juice Bar on 9th Ave (in NYC). Instead of my normal afternoon iced coffee fix, I opted for a Berry Bomb (the first of many smoothies in my near future). I am now a life-long smoothie convert. I do have to admit, however, that I felt like I was on drugs for the first hour after I drank the deep purple goodness, but I'm assuming it was just my body re-adjusting to food that's actually heathy for me. Perhaps increasing my daily intake of fruit will help me attract ... well ... the other kind of fruit.

Tax Day

Sadly, I know that I'm going to be at the Main Post Office on Apri 15th. Not because I need to get my taxes postmarked (I've already done my taxes by myself and gotten my return, thank you very much!) but because I'll be protesting 'Taxation without Representation'. Join Marriage Equality New York to protest the injustice 'against same-sex couples who pay taxes, obey the law, but did not get any federal or state benefits to protect their families.'

Toes of a Snail

Only four days?!! Clear those busy social schedules and go see what may well be some of the best dance you'll see in NYC this season. You think I'm kidding? I'm not.

Finally back from a two-month commission in Cuba, Misnomer Dance Theater presents the World Premiere of Toes of a Snail with live music by rock composer Rob Erickson. Rock on! If you didn't already know, Chris Elam's company is my favorite in the city ... and he lists among my top five choreographers of all time. The works are indescribable. Intense. The kind of stuff that leaves you giggling one moment and feeling like you have to sob the next without knowing exactly why. So don't miss your chance to see some of his new work that's been influenced by his recent time in Cuba, Turkey, Brazil, and Indonesia.

If you'd like more info or to order tickets, you can do that here.

Oh, and if you don't want to take my word for it, here's what the New York Times has to say about Mr. Elam:
A true orginal. One of the most individualistic of modern dance voices today.
Wow. It doesn't get much better than that.
